The heal before the him or her (Part 2)

Last week, we acknowledged the reality that companionship is from God. Both marriage and friendships. To desire companionship is a natural part of existence. Yet today, we shall learn about an unnatural yearning; a sickly desire to be bonded with another or others. Today, we shall view loneliness with the microscope of truth, under the light of the word, and with the delicate hands of understanding.
There's a level of loneliness that cannot be attributed to God's doing. It is the loneliness that believes every problem can be solved with "if only I had a spouse/ partner". Many of us run to dating someone new or remain obsessed with finding the right fit that would solve all our problems. Some of us throw ourselves at the next attention giver that comes along in the hope that they will freeze every living obstacle in our existence. Why? Because God made Adam and gave him Eve. God said,
"Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
(Genesis 1:26)
The instruction to dominate the earth was spoken into the spirit of man. We know that we were one in Adam, and It is for this reason that many desire to have a group of belonging. Being Part of a group subconsciously kindles a sense of safety and control. Then again, we know that the first two humans to carry out dominion over the earth were husband and wife (Adam and Eve). To dominate is to control, it is to have control over a thing. Therefore, many of us find that when our lives appear to be in chaos in whatever area, the idea of a partner seems like the solution. Or we expect our partner to be the solution. Why? Because we intrinsically know that our ancestors, Adam and Eve, were called to dominate all things on the earth together, and we subconsciously believe having a partner would put all things under control. Yet we know this is false, because Adam fell and the only person who can truly subdue all things is Jesus Christ who has been placed above every rule, principality, and power. And whose enemies shall be made a footstool for eternity
That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
(Ephesians 1:19 – 23)
But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool.
(Hebrews 10:12 – 13)
So beloved, I would like to encourage you to go to God first. Men are limited in power and a spouse, partner, or friend cannot solve the problems only God can. Your solution isn't found in men, it is found in God. The men and women are gifts. The Lord is the giver. If you suffer from an unhealthy level of loneliness, here's a prayer you could pray, and be assured that God hears you.
Dear Father, thank you for companionship. Thank you for the fellowship of your spirit. You know all things and can identify the roots of my insecurities, dissatisfaction, and anxiety. Bring me out of this loneliness and help me walk in fellowship with you, in your peace, and in your joy. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
